Hi everyone!

Monday Blues

I know Soph and I haven’t posted in quite some time, however here is a link to an awesome video, posted by Art Unified, that truly reimagines the idea of an office space. Leaving me to beg the question: May I work here?… Please?

If you want to learn more about Art Unified, check out my last post or their website!

Interestingly enough (I am unsure how I was not aware of this before), one of my favorite artists, Johan Andersson, along with the extremely talented musician Patrick Felder founded Art Unified! This fact just about blew my mind and enabled me to gain much more respect for the organization. Their objective is to provide both emerging and established artists of all kinds with opportunities in the field.

I apologize for being potentially overenthusiastic regarding Art Unified and their work… I PROMISE my next post will feature something different! As I have one particularly exciting post coming soon! (Well, I guess that would be self-proclaimed excitement)

Sincerely,

Emily

Inspiration of the Day: LA Art Show and Art Unified

Hello everyone!

A_D

Today I felt particularly inspired to share one of my overwhelming passions, art/design. As an aspiring Graphic Designer and Art Enthusiast, I am constantly searching for inspiration. When doing so, sometime last week, I discovered a set of artists and paintings that rendered me speechless and left me with a lasting impression far beyond the typical means of “inspiration”.

On my search I discovered the wonders of the LA Art Show which ultimately led me to some truly amazing artists such as, Johan Andersson, Dan Monteavara, Joseph Lee and Tomer Peretz. To attend the LA Art Show is a newfound goal of mine! (or be in it ;)- There I go dreaming again)

Abandoned Beginnings by Johan Andersson (Oil on Canvas- 62 by 70 in)

Abandoned Beginnings by Johan Andersson (Oil on Canvas- 62 by 70 in)

This first oil painting, by Johan Andersson, caught my eye instantaneously. I cannot even clearly express in words how powerful and striking this work truly is. The brushwork is so soft, smooth, and seamless. It is so seemingly simple, yet complex. The true level of detail, when observed closely, is awe-striking. Ranging from the cracks in his lips to the picturesque landscape found in his glossy eyes. The raw emotion depicted is so striking and powerful, it nearly leaves you at a loss for words. This particular painting has become a new favorite of mine and such a source of inspiration going forward in my career.

This next oil painting by Tomer Peretz, varies greatly in style and content, coming to a close second on my list of favorite works. If you check out his Facebook page, it is truly amazing to witness the process of how this painting came to life. His use of multi-dimensional hues and pointillism, is extremely appealing to the eye; clearly emphasizing the cheetah that is portrayed and delineating it from its given background. I absolutely love this composition due to its concept of design and subject matter. I tend to gravitate towards lions and cheetahs as my own subject matter for works, and love seeing others interpret such iconography. If you check out Peretz’s other works, they are so diverse and exude an insane amount of talent, go check him out! He is now one of my all-time favorite Post-Modern artists.

By Dan Monteavaro

By Dan Monteavaro

This next piece is by Dan Monteavaro, a talented Pop Artist, who uses various mediums such as oil, ink, and acrylic to obtain all of his unique compositions. A majority of his works consist of typical Pop Art portrayals of men, women, and etc., however they contain overlapping graffiti-esque designs, along with striking color. This particular work differs from such, however still maintains a striking graphic-appeal. The message being portrayed can be interpreted in various ways. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on such a rather simple yet strikingly bold and powerful composition!

"Lazarus" by Joseph Lee (Giclee Print)

“Lazarus” by Joseph Lee
(Giclee Print)

This next work, by Joseph Lee, is extremely bold and beautiful in both contrast and content. The woman portrayed is absolutely gorgeous, her face illuminated by the red strokes placed behind her face and on her lips. I love Lee’s play on color, as well as his use of painterly brushstrokes and simulated texture. From a design standpoint, this composition absolutely amazes me, serving as another great source of inspiration for my aspiring career. Briefly glancing at his other works, I am excited to further explore the nature of his artistic style and message.

Lastly, this awesome van, I discovered via Facebook on Art Unified’s timeline. Check them out, they are all for inspiring and promoting upcoming artists, as well as showcasing their work. I am unsure who the artist is, as it was not evidently listed, however I already strongly admire their work! This van is decked out with a variety of bold colors, textures, and typography. Such raw talent!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

I would love to hear your personal thoughts on these pieces of art!

Which works are your favorite?

Sincerely,

Emily

Product Review: Garnier Color Styler Intense Wash-Out Haircolor

Hey guys! So a couple weeks ago I was feeling a little wild and inspired by Kylie Jenner, so I went to Target and bought some blue washable hair dye! I picked out Garnier Color Styler Intense Wash-Out Hair color. It was $6.99 at my target and I was excited to try it out.

So tonight I opened up the box and read the directions to find out you do it with dry hair and you just wash it out when you’re bored of it.

So I put on the glove started applying it and it looked really good for cheap at-home hair dye. It took about 12 minutes to do the bottom five inches of my hair.

However, even though I untangled my hair before applying the product it started to pull out a lot of my hair and I would brush my hair out. It felt like a lot of my hair was coming out and that wasn’t fun.

After I was finished, I brushed my hair out (which was very painful) and made sure it was completely dry. My hair now feels like straw and I’m really not happy with the overall results. I think it came out looking pretty good however considering how much of my hair was pulled out and it feeling like straw I would definitely not recommend. Also, my hair starts to get tangled five minutes after I brush it and the dye comes off on my fingers when I run my hands through my hair. (ugh)

So if you’re feeling a little wild tonight, definitely try out some hair chalk instead. Hope this helps!

The Sneaker Heel: Louis Vuitton

Well hello there,

As I mentioned in my previous post (Lust Worthy Buys), I have been fawning over a variety of designer items and staple pieces. I also mentioned to stay tuned for my number one lust worthy item and so, here it is… (anticipation building even though you can already see the image of the item)…

The Sneaker heel!

I have really been wanting to try the sneaker heel trend and these Louis Vuitton Cliff Top Sneakers happen to be perfect! (yeah in my dreams…) Per usual, I am on the hunt for a cheaper version of these decadent heels and I plan to keep you posted! The rouge pair particularly caught my eye in the store and left me in awe. However, once I saw these metallic python versions (online), in rouge and Gelat, I was taken aback by their effortlessly cool beauty (Sounds dramatic… Is Dramatic… however, just looking at these sneakers, I feel as if my statement is justified).

I hope you enjoyed this short post!

Which sneaker is your favorite? And let me know if you would like me to share a post on how to pair these sneakers with various looks!

Sincerely,

Emily

Hi everyone!

Today I just wanted to share a few of my favorite lust worthy buys (AKA items mostly out of my price range). Inspired by my recent (and first!) trip to Tysons Galleria which was absolutely beautiful, by the way! This first item is absolutely perfect for any season! (I am actually looking for a cheaper model to invest in for Spring but hey a girl can dream, right?) A classic Burberry Trench Coat with a touch of plaid on the under-collar.

5b01f953042a74e5bab953e14c158dc03c391107d54bb86ffa6e1d27d34f5f10a355e789f51a1606 374f83224b8193d9dc29099a91dabafaafb3da6761e4afe53a8b76f5cf6af851abb8607a15696866

This next item is a gorgeous Check Wool Cashmere Stole. I love draping myself with scarves, as well as styling them as kimonos/capes (it is a great way to get multiple use out of one scarf and instantly spice up an outfit!). However, this stole is quite the step-up, as it is lavishly comfortable, soft, and chic! Plus it has pockets… What more could you really ask for?

Bringing the subject back to the trenches (intentional pun), this coat is an edgy and chic alternative to the classic Burberry trench coat. Leather plays a huge role in my wardrobe and I especially love when it is fashioned in subtle ways such as these leather sleeves (a hint of leather makes a bold statement). I also adore the studded under-collar!

Moving on to accessories… I saw these Oversized Round Cabernet Sunglasses in Tory Burch, tried them on, and instantly fell in love! As I mentioned in my Marsala-Pantone Color of the Year post, I am an avid fan of plum and wine colored hues! I will definitely be on the hunt for any potential deals on this pair.

TB_TY7076_608_ATB_TY7076_608

I adore Cat-eye sunglasses! and own a relatively cheap pair from target, however would like to, somewhat, splurge on a sturdier pair. Although these glasses don’t necessarily serve as a neutral piece, I still believe they could be paired seamlessly with a variety of looks! These semi-translucent frames are effortlessly cool and a trend I have been dying to try!

This next pair is more of a neutral piece with Butterfly frames, however has a fun pop of navy on the sides!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

What are your favorite lust worthy items?

P.s. Stay tuned for a particular lust worthy buy that I felt deserved its very own spotlight!

Emily

10 Tips & Tricks to Help you Stick with your Workout Routine

Tags

1. Preplan your Workouts

IMG_4174

Plan your workouts ahead of time on a calendar or in your planner! This will help motivate you and give you ideas of what workouts to do ahead of time. Here is my calendar, and no I don’t always stick with it (things come up, lazy days, etc.), but that is okay! Don’t beat yourself up over one missed day.

2. Get a Workout Buddy

…Or buddies! It can be anyone from your Mom and dad to your best friend, this person will help to keep you on track and prevent lazy days from occurring! And best of all, they make it even more fun to workout. Em and I go biking together quite a lot, keeping each other motivated, all while having a blast!

3. Keep it Interesting

It’s so important for you to change up your workouts. It gets boring running on the treadmill everyday, so make a list of different options! Here are some examples:

4. Get Cute Workout Gear

After a trip to Dick’s Sporting Goods or Sports Authority, I always want to put whatever new clothing item I bought to use. So treat yourself, buy that new top and head to the gym to show it off!

5. Make an Inspiration Board

Grab some magazines and cut out any images or articles that inspire you or simply make you want to go out and exercise. Make a collage and look at it when you’re feeling too lazy to head out and hit that hiking trail.

6. Reward Yourself

Make a rewards chart and hang it on your wall. However, try not to reward yourself with any form of junk food. Here is an example list:

7. Start off Slow

You don’t want to push your limits too far when first starting out because you might get discouraged. Start off with small goals then build up to larger ones, so you are able to stay motivated and prevent from injuring yourself!

8. Picture the Outcome

Think about how great you’ll feel right after that workout or how great you’ll look in that dress after you tone up! (You look hawt in it right now too;))

9. Make a great Playlist

When you are listening to songs you love that motivate you, there is no way you’ll want to stop in the middle of that workout. Here’s my playlist:

10. Share your Experience!

Let others know what works for you! Share what goals you were able to reach, for example, call your best friend when you are finally able to complete that yogilates ab workout video without giving up! Maybe even blog about it 😉

Marsala was dubbed the Pantone Color of the Year, and quite frankly every time I hear the word Marsala it reminds me of Veal Marsala, a mouthwatering dish that my mom cooks to perfection (sorry to any vegetarians out there!). Anyways, I really identify with this color (and so does my closet) as I am a huge fan of burgundy, plum, and wine related hues. I feel as if this color is the perfect combination of the three.

Today I am going to show you a few of my favorite items containing 2015’s most prominent hue. I frantically searched and discovered a number of gorgeous and extremely affordable items (Not “Affordable” in the warped sense of thinking, but actually Affordable). Hope you enjoy!

Introduction: Fashion

Hi!

Today I am very excited to post about a topic that is very near and dear to my heart (despite how cheesy that sounds…), Fashion. Fashion is a word that truly takes on a plethora of meanings. It is commonly associated with a certain standard one must uphold in order to be considered “fashionable”, however in my eyes that could not be farther from the truth. I believe fashion is personal to one’s self, enabling any Woman or Man to fuel a sense of passion, creativity, and being through what they wear. Fashion is really up for interpretation and cannot be dictated by the “in-crowd”, pop culture, celebrities, or etc. however, it can be influenced by such. Fashion is a term pertaining to the manner in which one dresses. It is simply what an individual feels like wearing, on any given day, that instills confidence within, enabling them to embody their best self!

I would love to hear your take on Fashion and what it means to you!

Sincerely,

Emily
